About Brenton
“An inspiration, a gift, an angel”…that is how this 11-year-old boy is remembered by his family and friends. Brenton Krouse was born a fighter in November of 1997. Born prematurely with kidney failure, Brenton’s parents were told that his future was uncertain. At 18 months old, Brenton received a kidney from his mother and endured a kidney transplant. Despite multiple surgeries, medicines, hospitalizations, and illnesses, Brenton continued to smile (with the most amazing dimples) and spread his happiness to all who knew him. Given the superhero moniker of “B-Man,” he grew to be a bright, creative, and loving child- beautiful inside and out. His love of nature, Legos, and Star Wars inspired his desire to make the world a better place. “I want to be an inventor, a scientist…find other sources of energy,” he would say. But most of all, Brenton loved all of God’s creations and was a child filled with spirit and faith.
In July, 2008, Brenton was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL (leukemia). His family wondered if the kidney transplant had somehow caused his leukemia. “No, he was just struck by lightning twice,” said the doctor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. However, his dependency on immunosuppressant steroids due to the kidney transplant made his disease more difficult to treat. Bravely fighting through chemotherapy, infections, surgeries, dialysis, and a bone marrow transplant, Brenton passed away June 1, 2009, due to complications related to viral infections and graft versus host disease (GVHD). Yet, through it all, this one child (with his quiet strength) continued to smile and inspire…and he always will.
God Looked Around His Garden
God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered,
“Peace be Thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone.
Part of us went with you the day God took you home.
If tears could build a stairway and heartaches make a lane,
We’d walk a path to heaven to be with you again.
